“Our lives are not problems to be solved but journeys to be taken with Jesus as our friend and finest guide.”
Henri J.M. Nouwen
What is Spiritual Direction?
Spiritual Direction is a relational ministry in which one comes alongside another to help them pay attention, invoke curiosity, and move toward the ongoing invitations of God. The goal is to experience freedom, a deepening love and communion with God, and live our truest selves as beloved sons and daughters in the Kingdom

As a director:
I create and hold space for the directee to share their stories, questions, doubts, fears and desires.
I invite the Holy Spirit, prayer, and silence, into the process.
I listen to the Spirit and to the directee during the session.
I discern with the directee the movements of God and bear witness to His work in their lives.

A typical meeting last about an hour and occurs once a month (more often if desired). These can happen in person or by Zoom. It will often start with silence, a brief centering exercise, or short Scripture passage. The main portion of the meeting will be on whatever is arising from the directee's life that they’d like to further explore. I will mainly listen, reflect back to the directee what i’m hearing, ask evocative questions, and make space for discernment together about the invitations arising from the directee's life. Because of its contemplative nature, there can be extended periods of silence. During this time I pray with and for the directee (in silence) as we wait on God’s direction.
The first meeting will be more conversational in order to get to know each other and discern together if this is a good fit. -
If any of these statements resonate with you, it may be a good time to seek Spiritual Direction:
I feel disconnected and distracted from life and those I’m in relationship with.
I’m longing for a deeper connection and intimacy with God.
I can’t figure out how God is at work in my life right now.
I’m at a crossroads in my life and don’t know which way to go.
I long to be listened to in a safe place.
I’m trying to discern a ministry call or vocational change.
My spiritual life is dry.
I desire to live more intentionally with God as His beloved.

Although financial contributions allow me to offer direction, I do not charge a set fee. I simple ask that you pray through what kind of financial offering best fits your ability. As a gauge, most contribute $40-$70. However, if finances are a concern, please reach out to meet with me anyway!

Spiritual direction is not therapy, pastoral counseling, or coaching. Although it shares a similar one with one nature as other practices, spiritual direction focuses on prayer, discernment, God’s presence, and the invitations he may be extending to you.
As a director, my goal will not be to give you advice, wisdom, or coaching. Rather my goal will be to “direct” your attention back to the movements of God in your life through questions and prayer.
“A spiritual director is one who helps another to recognize and to follow the inspirations of grace in his life, in order to arrive at the end to which God is leading him.”
—Thomas Merton
